Our Birth

by Conrad Martin

This is the way the world begins.
This is the way the world begins.
In a blessing of darkness,
blackness heavy as memory dreaming beneath warm seas,
eyes holding worlds, blinking back cosmos.
Murmur of earth in a round
throb of space, sleeping.
In a still ocean all is touching, and the deep
is wet with unborn knowing.
This is where,
this is when,
this is the way the world begins.

I heard the slip–the lap of a wave on an inner shore.

Speak once more,
and I will enter and be born.

Speak once more.

Conrad Martin loves words for their ability to create deeper awareness and experience of life through connection between minds and hearts.
