Morning Prayers

by Elaine Gingrich, July 4, 2018

The bud of prayer
Opens slowly
Into radiant bloom
That cups the sunshine
Of the Father’s face.

A trinity of robins attend
As Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Await, assist, accept
My fledgling prayers
With sovereign grace.

And waning morning moon,
Ethereal, serene,
From regal blue
With benedictory gaze
Hallows this sacred space.

Among the rocks, lakes and trees of Ontario, Elaine writes poetry as her medium of discovery, often a journey to the unexpected. With words she wrestles, puzzles, exults and prays.
