That Life was manifest, the Life divine
That soars in nature’s heights, and fills her deeps;
The Life that weaves the infinite design
That makes all lives and natures intertwine;
The Life that stands beside our grave and weeps.
Out from the atoms of infinity
BEING comes forth and calls itself I AM;
And lets us see and sense the mystery—
The Word in flesh, eternal Son of Man.
We saw His glory, full of truth and grace,
And of His fullness have we all received,
And in His death the Living Way perceived.
Life is a Man; we saw Him face to face,
And in Him saw all meanings, and believed.
